This is... Chocolatemakers

At Chocolatemakers, sustainability and taste are key. From bean to bar, Chocolatemakers owns the chain and can thus make an impact across the board. The best taste is the direct result of a healthy rainforest and happy, well-paid farmers.

From bean to bar

Chocolatemakers makes 100% organic and fair trade chocolate. This chocolate is produced in a carbon-neutral “bean to bar” chain, working directly with farmers. Managing the entire chain results in sustainable, fair chocolate with a wonderful taste. A taste now appreciated by many consumers. Chocolatemakers has an extensive assortment, including a vegan chocolate line and chocolate letters. The chocolate is available at organic supermarkets such as Ekoplaza, Odin, Crisp and through their own webshop.

For farmers, climate and biodiversity

Chocolatemakers pays cocoa farmers a living wage and ensures they are educated and trained. The cocoa is produced free of slave and child labor. In the six countries where they source their cocoa, Chocolatemakers works with farmers’ cooperatives on land and nature restoration. Growing cocoa on the edge of the rainforest among old trees creates a bio-diverse buffer zone that protects the rainforest and preserves biodiversity.

A sustainable chocolate factory

The cocoa beans come to the Netherlands largely emission-free, by sailing ship Tres Hombres. At Chocolatemakers’ Amsterdam factory, which runs entirely on solar energy and is largely made of wood, the beans are processed into chocolate. The beans are roasted using an artisanal process that takes three days. By using biodegradable plastic and soy ink, Chocolatemakers’ packaging is also sustainable.
